RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On October 19, 1013, Children's Research Triangle and Camp SOAR will honor Ira J. Chasnoff, M.D. with the Heroes of Our Hearts Award; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A widely admired medical professional and renowned expert on children with special needs, Ira J. Chasnoff, M.D. has announced his retirement as President of Children's Research Triangle; and
WHEREAS, A pioneer in the treatment and care of children at risk from prenatal alcohol and drug exposure, Ira J. Chasnoff, M.D. dedicated his career to integrating their primary health care with behavioral health care; and
WHEREAS, As the Founder and President of Children's Research Triangle, Ira J. Chasnoff, M.D. has guided that organization to prominence in the field of children's development and mental health; and
WHEREAS, The author of seven award-winning books, Ira J. Chasnoff, M.D. brought hope and healing to many children, parents and families; and
WHEREAS, With a Chicago clinic and nine community sites, Children's Research Triangle carries on the vital work of promoting quality of life for vulnerable patients; and
WHEREAS, Camp SOAR offers children the chance to experience the joys of the outdoors in a safe and supportive setting; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixteenth day of October, 2013, do hereby commend Ira J. Chasnoff, M.D. for his tireless dedication to helping high-risk children grow and reach their potential; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ira J. Chasnoff, M.D.
