RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 64; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones was a former Chief Cook County Medical Examiner and a nationally-recognized expert in forensic medicine; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of a millworker, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones was raised in rural Aliquippa, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones was the Valedictorian of her high school class before graduating with honors from DePaul University; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones graduated from Chicago Medical School University of Health Sciences and completed her residency at the University of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones joined the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office where she worked for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, A consummate physician pathologist and scientist, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones headed the office from 2007 to 2012 and adhered to the highest principles of the field of medicine; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones was known for her open-door policy, energy and compassion for others; and
WHEREAS, In her leisure time, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones rode horses that she stabled in Wisconsin and cared for dogs, cats and rabbits; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, To her mother, Mary, her two brothers, David and Edward, her three sisters, Marybeth, Karen and Carole, and her nieces and nephews, Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-second day of February, 2017, do hereby commemorate Dr. Nancy Lynne Jones for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
