RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Apostle Henry Lee Edwards has served and dedicated himself to the City of Chicago as a leader and advocate for political and faith-based causes; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of Apostle Edwards's accomplishments and contributions to the City of Chicago by the Honorable Raymond Lopez, Alderman of the 15th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Henry Edwards was born on July 10, 1946, in Thula, Mississippi, and grew up in the Robert Taylor Homes, on the southside of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Apostle Edwards went on to marry the love of his life, Diane Edwards. The couple has been married for 34 years and their union has been blessed with 10 children; and
WHEREAS, He founded We Need To Hear From God Outreach Ministries in 1992; and
WHEREAS, Apostle Edwards is an active advocate for youth, acting as a mentor and spreading positive messages to young people encouraging them seek the best in life; and
WHEREAS, Apostle Edwards also is a mentor to young people and adults in the jail system, and he also provides assistance to former inmates who are seeking reentry into society; and
WHEREAS, Apostle Edwards is known for his generosity, and often provides groceries, clothing, and rent money to struggling families from his personal funds; and
WHEREAS, He is the "Pastor of The Block" and prays for and encourages everyone in the neighborhood; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor, and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 20th day of July, 2016, do hereby extend our heartiest thanks to Apostle Henry Lee Edwards for his service to the City and its residents, and wish him every success in all of his future endeavors; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Apostle Henry Lee Edwards.
