MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR STANLEY JOSEPH LERSCH
WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Stanley Joseph Lersch on February 3, 2019 at the age of eighty-seven; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, in his earlier years, Stanley distinguished himself as an exceptional athlete and student. He earned a remarkable two-sport scholarship, excelling in both basketball and baseball at Steinmetz High School and at Northwestern University, where he successfully obtained a degree in business; and
WHEREAS, Stanley met and married the love of his life, Brenda and they were blessed with four wonderful children; and
WHEREAS, Stanley enjoyed a strong companionship with Brenda throughout their forty-four years of marriage; and
WHEREAS, Stanley was a lifelong parishioner of Queen of All Saints and an engaged community member of Sauganash; and
WHEREAS, Stanley leaves to cherish his memories: his adoring wife, Brenda; his sons, Stanley and Shawn Lersch; his daughters, Melissa Haag and Shanon Lersch; his cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Corey, Taylor, Henry, and Helen Lersch; his devoted sister, Susan Lersch-Kinsella, and a host of extended family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Stanley was preceded in death by his sister, the late Dolores Lersch-Halloran; and
WHEREAS, Stanley touched the lives of all who knew him through his loving and outgoing nature and soft-spoken demeanor. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his strong character, compassion, and commitment to his family, friends, and community, will live on in those who knew and loved him; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2019 do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Stanley Joseph Lersch; and
