Proclamation on the Occurrence of Jerome H. Stone's 100th Birthday
 
Whereas, March 18, 2013 marks the One Hundredth Birthday of Jerome H. Stone, one of Chicago's most beloved and respected citizens; and
 
Whereas, Jerome Stone is an international industrialist, who founded Stone Container Corporation, from a small family twine and paper company created in the 1920's; and
 
Whereas, Jerome Stone, founded the Alzheimer's Association, in 1980, which has become a household word. Today, its research and outreach programs are worldwide; and
 
Whereas, Jerome Stone, was Director and Deputy Chairman of the Museum of Contemporary Art, and recognized for his outstanding leadership and dedication, for building the museum; and
 
Whereas, Jerome Stone received the Education of Freedom Award from Roosevelt University, for his lifelong passion of offering an education to students of all walks of life; and.
 
Whereas, Jerome Stone, received the Award for Distinguished Service from the Harvard Club; and
 
Whereas, Jerome Stone was appointed to the Chicago Public Library Board by Harold Washington; and
 
Whereas, Jerome Stone served on the Board of Directors as President and Chairman of North Shore Congregation Israel. He was devoted to creating a new temple built by Minoru Yamasaki, which is now an architectural landmark; and
Be it Resolved, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirteenth day of March, 2013, A.D., do hereby express our congratulations to Jerome H. Stone as he celebrates his Centennial Birthday and extend to this fine citizen out very best wishes for continuing happiness and fulfillment.
Be it Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Jerome H. Stone.
