RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Louis Holland, Sr., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 74; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A longtime resident of unincorporated Glen Ellyn, Louis Holland, Sr., was a widely admired leader in the investment management industry and the loving husband for 35 years of Nancy; and

WHEREAS, Louis Holland, Sr., was the much-adored father of Louis, Jr., Cole, Tyler, Jeanette and Elizabeth and the grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Louis Holland, Sr., was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Wisconsin at Madison; and

WHEREAS, A standout running back, Louis Holland, Sr., led the Big 10 in scoring in 1962 and 1963 and scored a then-record 11 touchdowns for Wisconsin in 1962; and

WHEREAS, Louis Holland, Sr., briefly played professional football before joining Commonwealth Edison and then embarking upon a career in money management with A.G. Becker; and

WHEREAS, In 1983 Louis Holland, Sr., co-founded Hahn, Holland & Grossman and began appearing regularly as a stock expert on "Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser"; and

WHEREAS, In 1991 Louis Holland, Sr., co-founded Holland Capital Management which focused largely on buying high-quality conservative growth stocks for its clients; and

WHEREAS, Following a long and highly successful career, Louis Holland, Sr., retired in 2008; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Louis Holland, Sr., serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Louis Holland, Sr., to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
