WHEREAS, Eight hospitals in the Greater Chicago Area have received top marks for safety and quality for the past five years according to an annual ranking published by the Leapfrog Group; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this study by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Leapfrog Group, a Washington, D.C.-based not-for-profit group publishes an annual hospital safety guide that grades hospitals on how well they handle accidents, infections and patient injuries; and
WHEREAS, The survey includes only general-acute hospitals that act to participate in the survey and and relies on data from the federal government and the American Hospital Association; and
WHEREAS, The Greater Chicago Area hospitals that scored straight "As" over the period include West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Advocate Good Samaritan in Downers Grove, Amita Health St. Alexius in Hoffman Estates, Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage in Winfield, Rush-Copley in Aurora, Rush University in Chicago and University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of May, 2017, do hereby congratulate the aforementioned hospitals for their top ranking; and
