WHEREAS, Robert Parker, Sr. ("Bob") was taken to his eternal resting place on January 20, 2016; and

 

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Derrick G. Curtis, Alderman ofthe 18th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert Parker was born on April 6,1946 in Chicago, Illinois to the union ofthe late Mae Ida Barker and the late Curtis Stephens; preceded in death are; his companion, Velma Shavers; his siblings, Lurlene Cherry, John Parker and Roy Barker, Jr.; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert was baptized at a young age at Commonwealth Missionary Baptist Church by Reverend E. A. Henderson. He became a man of faith which led him to serve as a deacon; and

 

WHEREAS, Bob, affectionately known by all, leaves behind seven children: Arlene (Charles), Lil Robert, Lynette (Harold), Ronald, Marlon (Patricia), Keith (Jeanette) and Keshia (Tony); four sisters: Lovie Parker, Darlene Ross, Theresa Ross and Rochelle Ross; his brother Maurice Ross; and sisters-in-law Rose Parker and Gwen Barker; Bob leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

 

WHEREAS, Bob touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, his generosity, his heart and his spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on In those who knew and loved him, now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council ofthe City of Chicago, assembled this tenth day of February, 2016, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Robert Parker, Sr.; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Parker as a sign of our sympathy.
