Title: Congratulations extended to Joseph Jamen on retirement from Chicago Fire Department

SALUTE TO JOSEPH JAMEN
WHEREAS, Joseph Jamen an engineer of the Chicago Fire Department retired in May of 2010 after 34 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Jamen entered the Chicago Fire Department as a Firefighter in 1976 as well as the Emergency Medical Service Headquarters. For thirteen years he worked on Engine 49 followed by the Bureau of Fire Prevention as well as the Underground Storage Tank Section. In 2005, it was discovered that over one-third of the filling station owners were under reporting their tank capacity. As a result of his attentiveness, the city recouped thousands of dollars of revenue; and
WHEREAS, In 2000, Joseph Jamen was promoted to Commander of the Underground Storage Tank Section and worked as a Commander for eight years until he retired. During his tenure as Commander of the Bureau of Fire Prevention he revamped the computer system, making it efficient. This earned him recognition from the State Fire Marshal's Office; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Jamen has helped many throughout his career and will be greatly missed all through the city of Chicago. He has touched many people with his courage and intellect. We wish him well in all future endeavors and the best of luck; and
BE IT RESOLVED; That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled on this 13th Day of April, 2011 AD, do hereby salute Joseph Jamen for his unparalleled service with the Chicago Fire Department.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Joseph Jamen.
