We are filing with your office for introduction at the October 31, 2018, City Council meeting as a transmittal to the Mayor and City Council of Chicago the recommendation of the Commission on Chicago Landmarks that the West Side YMCA/YWCA Complex be designated as a Chicago Landmark.

Recommendation of the Commission on Chicago Landmarks; and
Proposed Ordinance.

WHEREAS, pursuant to the procedures set forth in the Municipal Code of Chicago (the "Municipal Code"), Sections 2-120-630 through -690, the Commission on Chicago Landmark^ -S^ (the "Commission") has determined that the West Side YMCA/YWCA Complex (the "BuiidingJ, ^ located at 1513-1539 W. Monroe and 101-109 S. Ashland, Chicago, Illinois, legally describeoin Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein, satisfies three (3) criteria for landmark designation as set forth in Section 2-120-620 (1), (4) and (5) of the Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the West Side YMCA/YWCA complex exemplifies the importance of the Young Men's Christian Association and the Young Women's Christian Association to the social and cultural history of the City of Chicago;...
