RESOLUTION HONORING ARTURO URBANO ON RETIREMENT FROM THE UNITED BROTHERHOOD OF CARPENTERS AND JOINERS OF AMERICA

WHEREAS, After 42 impactful years of doing what he loves, on November 30, 2021, Arturo Urbano retires from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America; and
WHEREAS, He is the son of Marcos and Consuelo Urbano, was born and raised in Pilsen with his five siblings, has four children and lives with his partner, Roxanne Nava; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Urbano first joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters ("UBC") his junior year at Benito Juarez High School through an apprenticeship program held at Washburne Trade School; and
WHEREAS, In June of 1979, Mr. Urbano graduated Benito Juarez High School as part of its first graduating class, and also completed his apprenticeship program with UBC; and
WHEREAS, For 22 years, he worked on various commercial construction sites throughout Chicagoland leaving his mark on our City, including the City of Chicago Clerk's Office; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Urbano's successful career in the field garnered recognition and expertise, which led him to begin teaching at the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters ("CRCC"); and
WHEREAS, He takes great pride in knowing that for over 22 years as an instructor of CRCC, he has taught over 15,000 apprentices and journeymen in various courses that include print reading, commercial interior systems (metal studs, framing, ceiling, exposed grid systems, drywall), door hardware, welding, and numerous OSHA required safety courses; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, Mr. Urbano dedicated 10 years as instructor at the Carpenters International Training Center in Las Vegas; and
WHEREAS, His success is not limited to teaching, but also includes leadership, serving on the Executive Board of Carpenters Local-13, and 12 years as a Director of The Institutional Locksmiths'Association; and
