RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Julian Pecak was born in Poland in a small farming community in Skrzyszow Poland on July 23, 1928 to Victoria and Andrew Pecak; and,
WHEREAS, Julian's father, Andrew, was a blacksmith and his mother cared for their twelve children; and,

WHEREAS, Julian, while growing up, worked the farm and later apprenticed as a baker in Poland, where he continued his baking trade and skills in Chicago, until the time he retired; and,

WHEREAS, Julian married the love of his life, Stanislawa, on July 2, 1955, in Skrzyszow Poland at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Church, one of Poland's oldest wooden churches and a treasured local landmark; and,

WHEREAS, Julian and Stanislawa have four children: Barbara, Casimir, Theresa, and Elizabeth, all whom attended St. Hyacinth Parish School; and,

WHEREAS, Julian has eight grandchildren: Matthew, Christina, Peter, Katherine, Christopher, Marthin, Arthur, and Maximillian, who all reside in the Chicagoland area; and,

WHEREAS, Julian has been an active member of St. Hyacinth Basilica for fifty years, and performed numerous service duties, including serving as an usher. Julian has been actively involved in many church celebrations including the Icon standard bearer and fundraiser; and,

WHEREAS, Julian has particularly dear memories of raisings funds for the John Paul II memorial statue and the monumental bronze doors that were hung along the main entrance at the basilica; and,

WHEREAS, Julian enjoys working at the annual St. Hyacinth Carnival that is held in July, and during the Christmas holiday, he diligently cares for the animals that make up the living nativity pageant; and,

WHEREAS, On July 24, 2016, family and friends will be celebrating Julian's 88th birthday at St. Hyacinth Basilica; and now therefore,
