City Council January 27th, 2021
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, James Anthony Casella has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 100 to his eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman ofthe 11th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Durkin) for over 50 years; son ofthe late Bernard and Elizabeth Casella; dear brother of the late Bernard, Frank, Rosella, and Eleanor; loving uncle, great uncle, and great great uncle of many; special thanks to Reah Fernandez for your love and support.
WHEREAS, Decorated US Army Veteran of WWII, 1942-1945, seeing action in North Africa and the Allied invasion of Italy; After WWII James went to college on the GI Bill at St. Mary's in Minnesota; After college he had a successful career in the insurance business; For 50 years he and Eleanor lived at 400 East Randolph, they were one of the earliest residences of the building that Lake Shore Drive wound around; James was an avid Chicago sports fan, but his true passion was Notre Dame Football; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared James to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this twenty seventh of January 2021, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of James Anthony Casella and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Anthony Casella.
