WHEKEAS, Of the myriad available career path^ thai dream/, there/ are- bat a few through which/ faithful/ execution/ cf responsibilities offers assurance/ that those/ who- choose/ other paths wild/ irv fact have/ a- legitimate/ opportunity to achieve- their portion of the Vream/; and
WHEKEAS, Thoughseemingly fixed/and/ inviolable, the complex social fabric-of our great metropolis could/ be- easily torn- asunder were- it not for the guardians of the-public- welfare-, indeed/, the- guardians of the "American Vream/'; and/
WHEKEAS, Vedieation to the fulfilbmert of the motto of the- Chicago-Police Vepartment- "We-Serve- and- Protect" -exacts a- substantial physical and/ emotional tobl not only on the officers who- must daily cope- with the- stress and- danger of being- lifers arbiters for countless citizens, but also on the family members who live- withthe very real knowledge that their husband-or father may never return from/any give- workday; and
