Memorial Resolution
WHEREAS, in His infinite wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Mildred Louise Ewing on October 22, 2014; and
WHEREAS, the Honorable Deborah Graham, Alderman ofthe 29th Ward, has informed this
esteemed body of the transition of Mildred Ewing; and
WHEREAS, born as the first of eight children to parents Floyd and Demetter Campbell, on September 24,1935, in Montrose, Mississippi, Mildred gave her life to Christ at a young age at her home church of Pilgrim's Rest M.B. Church in Bourbon, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, earning her education from Areola Special Consolidated School in Areola, Mississippi, Mildred grew up in a loving home, which she left to start her own family with her husband Freddie Lee Ewing, Sr., whom she wed on January 20,1955; and
WHEREAS, Mildred and Freddie's marriage was blessed with five children, and a life built in Chicago, Illinois, where they moved in 1956. Always active in a local church, Mildred began attending Pleasant Ridge M.B. Church in 1970, which became her home church. During her time at Pleasant Ridge, Mildred was very active, blessing the congregation with music, as she served as the assistant supervisor of the youth choir. Mildred gave back to the city and congregation that gave her so much joy, hoping to impart the love she had to the next generation. She kept the 23rd Psalm close to her heart and treasured the song, "God's Grace and Mercy;" and
WHEREAS, Mildred was preceded in death by one son, her parents: Floyd and Demetter, one brother: Willie Jerome, and one great-grandson: Desisi Denon; and
WHEREAS, Mildred is survived by her devoted husband: Freddie, Sr.; her four children: Freddie, Jr., Floyd, Vanessa, and Marie; her four sisters: Orangie Lee, Johnnie Mae (Booker T.), Barbara Jean (Lawrence), and Linda Diane; two brothers: Floyd, Jr. (Jacqueline) and Leonard; special sister Marie Carr; one aunt: Katherine Gavan; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchi...
