RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 81; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Woodstock, the Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn was a widely admired member of the judiciary and the loving husband of Patricia, nee Byers; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn was the much-adored father of Leslie, Maggie and Tom and the grandfather of eight to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn was the dear brother of Nancy, Sister Mary Frances, Margaret and Richard; and
WHEREAS, Raised on North Shore in suburban Wilmette, the Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Loyola University Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn practiced law until serving as a highly respected judge for more than 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, the Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn serve as an example to afl; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fourteenth day of December, 2016, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Thomas A. Schermerhorn for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
