RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski, the Presiding Judge of the Fifth Municipal District, has been named 2013 jurist of the Year by the Southwest and South Suburban Bar Associations; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A veteran for more than two decades of the Cook County bench, the Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski is a former teacher and football coach at St. Rita High School and a graduate of the John Marshall Law School in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski is widely respected for his management experience and vast legal expertise encompassing civil and criminal matters; and
WHEREAS, From 1981 to 1988, the Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski ably served as an Assistant Cook County Public Defender; and
WHEREAS, From 1989 to 1991, the Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski was a Commissioner, of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners, and its Chairman in 1989, while also maintaining a private practice; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski was first elected to serve as a Circuit Judge in 1992 and was then retained in 1998, 2004, and 2010; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski was assigned to the County Division in 1995 where he presided over the real estate tax deed call as well as adoption, mental health and election cases; and
WHEREAS, In 2006 the Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski was assigned to the Fifth Municipal District where he has served as the Supervising Judge of the Misdemeanor and Traffic Section since June 2010, overseeing nine courtrooms and judges; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski will be recognized at a special event to be held at Ridge Country Club in Chicago on Thursday, May 9, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Raymond L. Jagielski serve as an example to all; now, therefore
