BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO;
 
SECTION 1.  Pursuant to an ordinance heretofore passed by the City Council which allows erection of honorary street-name signs, the Commissioner of Transportation shall take the necessary action for standardization of 8700 block of South Damen Avenue as "Bishop George Walker Way."

We are asking your support for the naming of 8700 South Damen Avenue in honor of Bishop George Walker, founder of Greater Waiters, AME Zion Church located at 8420 South Damen Avenue. Bishop was one ofthe first African Americans to demand parity in housing, employment and civil rights. He is currently working to ensure African Americans receive construction jobs i.e. 9000 South Western Construction Project. Thanks for your support!
