MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

 

 

 

WHEREAS, God in His infinite Wisdom has called Dorthia Mae Greenlee, most beloved citizen, to her eternal reward on August 21 2018; and

 

WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born on February 26, 1932 in Hughes, Arkansas, Dorthia was the beloved daughter of (the late) Darous and (the late) Caudie Young. Dorthia accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully participated in services at her grandfathers' church. She leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, Dorthia married the love of her life, George, and to this union were blessed with two daughters, Claudie and Minnie "George Anne". She was a jack of all trades, but cooking was her specialty and relished entertaining family and close friends. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, card games and listening to her down-home blues; and

 

WHEREAS, Dorthia leaves to cherish her memories; daughters, Claudie (Sam) Washington, Minnie "George Anne" Greenlee; grandchildren, Marcellus, Amelia (Broderick), Sammie, Letisha, Clarence and Arthur, Sr.; 23 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and treasured friends; and

 

WHEREAS, Dorthia touched the lives of all who knew her through her unconditional love and vivacious spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore

 

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twentieth day of September, 2018, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Dorthia Mae Greenlee; and

 

Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution will be presented to the family of Dorthia Mae Greenlee as a sign of our sympathy and good wishes.
