RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-nine; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Aldermen Edward M. Burke and Timothy Cullerton; and
 
WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski was an Auxiliary-Bishop Emeritus and Assistant Vicar for Senior Priests of the Archdiocese of Chicago; and
 
WHEREAS, Ordained to the priesthood on May 3, 1950, the Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski was first assigned to St. Ann Church; and
 
WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski taught at Quigley Preparatory Seminary North where he was Dean of Students from 1957 to 1976; and
 
WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski was appointed Pastor of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and served there until 1988 when he was ordained a Bishop; and
 
WHEREAS, Among his many duties during his 'ministry, the Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski was the Executive Director of the Catholic League for Religious Assistance to Poland; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of July, 2013, do hereby commemorate the Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the familyof the Most Reverend Thad J. Jakubowski.
