CONGRATULATING SCOTT DRAWE ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM AFTER THIRTY YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, Scott Drawe, Branch Manager for the Near North Branch ofthe Chicago Public Library is retiring after thirty years of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, The members ofthe Chicago City Council have been informed of this significant occasion by the Honorable Brian Hopkins, Alderman ofthe 2nd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Scott earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, and his Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Chicago in 1989; and
WHEREAS, in 1989, Scotl made Chicago his permanent home when he began his career with Chicago Public Library system. His first job resulted in him developing an exceptionally robust array of programs for families as a children's librarian in the Morgan Park and Beverly communities; and
WHEREAS, Scott's first Branch Manager position was at the Mabel Manning Branch Library, on the city's near west side; and
WHEREAS, Scott has spent the last sixteen years preceding his retirement as the Branch Manager at the Near North Branch Library, where he often collaborated with Aldermen from the 2nd, 27th, 42nd and 43rd wards, frequently using their thoughts and ideas as inspiration for new improvements and curriculum to meet the needs of their Ward communities; and
WHEREAS, Scott has also collaborated with the Near North Unity Program, the Old Town Merchants and Residents Association, and the 18th District Chicago Police Department, to help realize his consistent vision for high quality library programs and services for Chicago's public; and
WHEREAS, Scott has been an invaluable asset to the communities he has served, always sharing his vast knowledge to upgrade and innovate programs to positively contribute to peoples' library experiences; and
