RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING ELEANORE WIDEIKIS ON HER 100"1 BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, Mrs. Eleanore Wideikis (nee Matuliokas) celebrates her Centennial Birthday on November 23, 2016; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of this special occasion by the Honorable Michael Zalewski, Alderman of the 23rd Ward; and

WHEREAS, Eleanore "Nora" Wideikis is an enthusiastic, active and much-loved member of her community; and
WHEREAS, Eleanore was born in West Frankfort, Illinois, the daughter of the late Agatha (nee Steckauskas) and Casmir Matuliokas who emigrated from Lithuania in 1912. Nora, as she is lovingly called by all, was the second of six children and attend Franklin Elementary School and Frankfort High School; and
WHEREAS, Eleanore moved to Chicago to find work, helping to support her parents. While she was working as a waitress at the former Healthy Foods Restaurant, she met the love of her life, John Wideikis; and
WHEREAS, The couple married on June 11, 1938 at St. George Church in Bridgeport. Together they had two children, John and George, and were later blessed with five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two more great-grandchildren are currently on their way; and
WHEREAS, The family lived in Bridgeport until 1957, later moving to Chicago's West Elsdon neighborhood, and attending St. Turibius Parish. They later relocated to the area near Midway Airport where they were dedicated members of St. Rene Parish; and
WHEREAS, Eleanore is known as a dedicated member of her faith, and has supported Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Marquette Park; and

WHEREAS, Eleanore remains devoted to her family and is cherished by all who know her; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of the rich history to which Nora has witnessed and contributed, the Chicago City Council believes that Nora is deserving of adulation and good wishes as she celebrates entering her 100* year of life; now, therefore,
