CONGRATULATIONS TO CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT ENGINE 120 ON THEIR 100TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, Chicago Fire Department Engine 120, located at 11035 S. Homewood is celebrating their 100th year anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Matthew O'Shea, Alderman ofthe 19th Ward; and
WHEREAS, On April 22, 1914, Engine 120 was organized at 11113 Commercial Avenue Morgan Park/11033 S. Hale Avenue and assigned to the 17th Battalion; and
WHEREAS, The History of Engine 120 dates back 1914 when the area of Morgan Park was annexed to Chicago for a second and final time on April 21, 1914. Engine 120 was located on a rear lot and used rent free by the Chicago Fire Department, and then relocated in 1916 to a new fire house at 11035 S. Homewood Ave; and
WHEREAS, Engine 120 has fought numerous critical fires and served the needs of thousands of community members, truly embodying the Chicago Fire Department tradition of dedication to public service and safety; and
WHEREAS, On behalf of the Fire Commissioner and the members of Engine 120, the Chicago City Council congratulates Engine 120 and then men and women who have served dutifully the citizens of this great city for a century; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirtieth day of April, 2014 do hereby express our sincere appreciation to Engine 120 and all its members for their dedicated service on behalf of the people of the City of Chicago; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Chicago Fire Department.
