RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Michael Lambert Igoe has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Michael was the devoted husband of 67 years to the late Helen Douaire lgoe, doting and incredibly dedicated father to five children, Michael L. Igoe III, William D. (Kathryn) Igoe, Kevin P. Igoe, Sheila M. Igoe (Brian Grant) and Ruth E. Igoe; and

WHEREAS, Michael was born on April 24,1930 in Chicago and grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood where he attended St. Thomas the Apostle Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, Michael graduated Canterbury School in New Milford, CT and received a degree in Economics in 1952 from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from Georgetown University, Michael, joined the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 where he was stationed at Sandia Base, Albuquerque, NM; and

WHEREAS, In 1956, Michael and his wife moved back to Chicago and attended the University of Chicago Law School where he received his Juris Doctorate; and

WHEREAS, During most of his lengthy legal career in Chicago, which extended until 2013, Michael focused on general corporate practice and real estate law as a partner at Vedder Price; and

WHEREAS, In his legal work, Michael served as general counsel for a number of corporations, and represented state and local governing bodies in various matters; and

WHEREAS, Michael was active in Chicago and Cook County Democratic politics volunteering as a Chicago precinct captain and serving on the Zoning Board of appeals for the City of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Michael's most visible and longest role was serving 29 years as Secretary ofthe Cook County Board of Commission under Presidents John Duffy, Seymour Simon, Richard Ogilvie and George Dunne; and
