TRIBUTE TO CHESTER CLAY JONES
WHEREAS, In His infinite wisdom, God has granted eternal rest to Chester Clay Jones, an outstanding citizen and member of his community, on April 7, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Chester Jones started life in this city as the son of the late Chester and Carmella Brown Jones on January 12, 1948. He was baptized at Holy Angels Church in 1952, attended St. Columbanus and St. Laurence Elementary Schools, and graduated from Mt. Carmel High School; and
WHEREAS, Chester Jones matriculated to South East Community College where he met his future wife, Pamela, whom he married in 1968. This 45-year union was blessed with a son, Christopher, and a daughter, Megan, that ending only with his passing; and
WHEREAS, Chester Jones was employed by American Building Maintenance for more than three decades as a project manager for multiple sites including the Equitable Building, the Museum of Science and Industry, and Northwestern University. He was an avid reader, enjoyed entertaining, cooking and collecting baseball caps. Much of his free time was devoted to serving his community as a member of the Bronzeville and the Gap Associations; and
WHEREAS, Chester Jones leaves behind, to celebrate a life well lived, his wife, his son Christopher and his daughter Meagan as well as his sister Pamela, a host of nieces, nephews, other relations and many close friends; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body of the transition of Chester Clay Jones; and I
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together on this 30th Day of April, 2014, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning of the passing of Chester Clay Jones and extend our deepest sympathies to his family and all those whose lives he touched.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Chester Clay Jones. I
