Title: Tribute to late Lucine H. Mastalerz, Ed.D.

RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Dr. Lucine H. Mastalerz, Ed.D entered the Gates of Heaven on May 20, 2016, surrounded by her family; and,

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Ariel E. Reboyras; and,

WHEREAS, Lucine was born on April 1, 1950 to the late Phil and Irene Loui. She is survived by her husband Stan, her children, Irene Heidelbauer (Mike Abran), Rudy (Sarah), David (Kim) and the late Peter and Angeline. Grandmother to Peter, Jacob, Theodore, Stas, Rosalie, and Luke. Sister of Greggory (Carol), Claudia (Tom) arid dearly loved by Ann. Aunt and Great Aunt to many; and,

WHEREAS, Lucine was a lifelong Catholic educator. Her life's focus was putting children first. She began her career as a high school teacher and became a principal in 1988. She received her doctorate in 1999 from Roosevelt University, and most recently has been the principal of St. Ferdinand School for the past 12 years; and,

WHEREAS, Lucine wore many hats as the Head of Schools for Notre Dame High School for Girls and Principal of St. Ferdinand Elementary School in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood. She was active in the educational community having served on the Catholic Schools Council at DePaul, and co-administered a Big Shoulders Grant with DePaul University for educational leadership in Math and Science. She also worked with the Catholic Area Network of Schools by preparing an educational workshop for schools and presenting uses of technology in the classroom; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Lucine H. Mastalerz leaves a lasting legacy to all those she touched; and,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this'twenty second day of June, 2016, do hereby commemorate Dr. Lucine H. Mastalerz, Ed, D for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family members of Dr. Lucine H. Mastalerz, Ed.D...
