WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the departure of Darryl Kennedy Moore; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman of the 18th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Darryl Kennedy Moore was born on June 17,1963, the fourth child born to the union of the late Ben James and Florence Moore in Chicago, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Darryl attended Vlissingen Elementary School, graduated from Julian High School and earned his Associate of Arts degree from Olive Harvey College; and

WHEREAS, He went on to marry his beloved wife Daphne, whom he met at the age of nine; and

WHEREAS, Since he was a young child, Darryl knew that he wanted to be a Chicago Firefighter. Darryl was selected from the first round of Fire Academy picks in July, 1986, which marked the beginning of an auspicious career of dedicated service as a firefighter; and

WHEREAS, Darryl moved through the ranks at the fire department quickly during his thirty-three years of service, being promoted to Engineer, Lieutenant and Captain; and

WHEREAS, Darryl was an avid bowler for twenty-nine years, known as D. Moe to his bowling friends; and
WHEREAS, Darryl Moore leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Daphne; daughters, Candace and Darmesha; son, Darryl Jr.; grandchildren, Chanel and Cameron; siblings, Robert, Ben Jr. (Jeanette), Lynette and Marzell; nieces, Monique, Amanda, Nicole, Erica, Jayla and Taliyah; nephews, Marcus, Ben II, Robert Jr., Martell, Brandon and Jeremy; great-nephew, Micah; great-nieces, Jena and Rihanna; cousins, Ted, Lewis, Michael, Jeffery, Steve, Darlene and Margie Ann; his bowling family; Marycrest Residences; 108th and State friends; and his fire and police family; and

WHEREAS, He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character will live on in...
