Title: Tribute to late Dennis D. "Bilal" Williams

WHEREAS, On Friday, April 27, 2012, the Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom called to his eternal journey, Dennis D. "Bilal" Williams; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this by 18th Ward Alderman Lona Lane; and

WHEREAS, Dennis "Bilal" was born to the late Sidney K. Sr. and to the late Thelma A. (nee Roudette) Williams on December 7, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1964 he graduated from Our Lady of the Gardens Elementary School, and in 1968 from Chicago Vocational High School. In 1968, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Mannheim, Germany. After his military service, he pursued a career in automotive repair and trained with major foreign car manufactures and became a licensed Master Foreign Car Mechanic. Several years later, he started his own foreign car repair business, South Shore Imports, on the Southside of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Dennis "Bilal" accepted the teachings of Islam in his twenties and also worked as a US distributor of Whiting Fish in Anchorage, Alaska. He was an avid conga drum player, playing with many local groups and a member of the "Circle of Drummers" at The Point in Hyde Park, Illinois, and at Jackson Park in Chicago, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, "Dennis "Bilal" is survived by his most loving wife Delores (nee McPhee) Williams whom he married on October 29, 1985, and endearing father of Kareem and Khalia with wife Delores and Bilal Jr. and Beyate by former wife; and a special godson Maurice Smith; Loving brother of Carole (Curtis, Sr.) Mason, Judith (Byron) Treadway, Frederica Williams and the late Sidney Williams, Jr., and Adrienne Garcia-Phillips; and a host of family and friends; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this twelfth day of December, 2012 A.D., do hereby express our sorrow in the passing of Dennis Duncan "Bilal" Williams, and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
