WHEREAS, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show with roots dating back to 1847 returns to Chicago's Navy Pier from March 9-17, 2013, to beautify the shores of Lake Michigan and as the harbinger of spring after a long, cold Chicago winter; and,
WHEREAS, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show plays an essential role in the city's ongoing commitment to beautification initiatives and creates commerce, supports tourism and provides inspirational, educational and motivational opportunities for all; and,
WHEREAS, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show inspires, educates and motivates visitors of all ages and skill levels through a visual shopping trip of green ideas, and provides realistic and beautiful solutions for area yards, gardens, patios and balconies; and,
WHEREAS, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show showcases the best landscape designs and the latest products in sustainable and environmental-based products; and,
WHEREAS, "The Art of Gardening," the Chicago Flower & Garden Show's theme in 2013, features 25-plus display gardens showcasing the work and talent of top Midwest landscapers, growers and garden designers; and,
WHEREAS, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show supports the work of nonprofit sustainable charitable organizations and the success of state-based businesses in landscape, horticulture, environmental services and miscellaneous related industries; and,
WHEREAS, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show creates opportunity and incentive, reminding Chicagoans to strive for eco-conscious and sustainable alternatives in gardening; and,
WHEREAS, support of sustainable initiatives, such as those presented by the Chicago Flower & Garden Show, is essential for a successful local economy and a healthy environment; now therefore,
