MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR LEON "MICKEY" LOLWING
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Leon "Mickey" Lolwing on December 15, 2017 at the age of 84; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on November 11, 1933, Mickey was the beloved wife of AI; loving mother of Linda (Bryan) Curry, Laura (Michael) Stern, the late Lisa (Mario) Garcia, and Mark (Cathlene) Lolwing; cherished grandmother of Shawn (Amy) Curry, Tim (Erin) Curry, Jenny (Jamie) Coker, Tom Stem, Melissa (Michael) Joseph and Sam and Amanda Lolwing; proud great-grandmother of June and Elliott Curry, Brynn Curry, and Christopher James Joseph; dear sister to Jean Pleimling, David Reiter and the late Paul Reiter; adored aunt of many nieces and nephews and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Mickey leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, In 1956, Mickey and her husband AI, moved from Dubuque, Iowa to Chicago, Illinois and settled in the Sauganash Community where they masterfully raised four children. Mickey was an accomplished singer who loved to entertain, serving over thirty years as a member and soloist for the Queens of All Saints Church Choir; and
WHEREAS, Mickey touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, generosity and vivacious spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and member of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this seventeenth day of January, 2018, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Leon "Mickey" Lolwing and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
