RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John J. Kinsella has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 93; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, He was the beloved husband to Jenny (Cullinane) for 58 years and the devoted father to his children Jeanette Cutle, Katie (Kevin) Lawler, Eileen (Robert) Herber, Molly (Stephen) Katz, John (Heather). He was the adored "Pops" to Jenna, Michael and Grace Cutler, Annie and Patrick Lawler, Jimmy, Kate, and Sean Herber, Eliza Katz, and John and Emma Kinsella; and
WHEREAS, John was born in Joliet, Illinois in 1929 to John and Eileen (Baskerville) Kinsella and was the older brother to Tom; and
WHEREAS, He was a proud graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, the University of Notre Dame (BA, 1950) and DePaul University (MBA, 1952). His commitment to his alma maters extended to his service on the Mendoza College of Business Advisory Council at the University of Notre Dame and service on the Board of Trustees at DePaul University; and
WHEREAS, John started his advertising career in 1954. In 1959, he joined Leo Burnett Company where he served clients and built brands with commitment and creativity for 28 years before retiring as Chairman and CEO in 1987. He was passionate about his work, the agency and his Burnett colleagues and clients, many of whom he formed lifelong friendships with and stayed connected to long after his retirement; and
WHEREAS, He demonstrated his commitment to education and the City of Chicago over the years by actively supporting the Gary Comer Youth Center, the Big Shoulders Fund, Immaculate Conception St. Joseph School, the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago, the Ireland Fund's Chicago chapter, Santa for the Very Poor, and many other organizations across the city he loved so dearly. In his retirement, John also served on the Board of Directors of CenterPoint Properties; and
