TRIBUTE TO SARAH "SALLY" FOY
WHEREAS, On Thursday, November 1, 2012, God, in His Infinite Wisdom, chose to call His precious daughter Sarah Foy home to her eternal reward at the age of 89; and
WHEREAS, Born December 21, 1923, Sarah Foy was a proud native of Ireland from the village of Breaffy in County Mayo. She was one of three daughters in a family of seven. Sarah and her siblings, Mary, John, James, Thomas, Patrick and Kathleen brought laughter and joy into the Kelly Family home; and
WHEREAS, After completing high school, Sarah moved to Belfast in Northern Ireland where she met and was united in holy matrimony with Patrick "Paddy" Foy on August 2, 1951. In 1953, Sarah and Paddy moved to this city where they were blessed with four children, Geraldine, Barbara, Patrick and Moira; and
WHEREAS, Sarah and Paddy Foy lived in an apartment near Diversey and Cicero before relocating to West Berteau Avenue in 1972. Although Sarah's children were rather young, she did not hesitate to work part time, finding a position with Polk Brothers. Once the children grew older, she received an offer to become a full time employee at Northern Trust Bank for numerous years. After retirement, Sarah decided to work as a part time employee for Harris Bank while devoting the rest of the time to her grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Sarah was a woman filled with an abundance of grace, charm and wisdom, capturing the hearts of many, including strangers. She was given the moniker of "Sally", a name that remained with her forever; and
WHEREAS, Sally frequently told stories about her life in Ireland. Her true passion was Irish dancing and music. She loved everything about it but especially the countless hours spent in her chair, watching the children dance. In addition, whenever the opportunity arose, Sally would go back home to visit; and
WHEREAS, The only thing that trumped Sally Foy's love of Ireland was her love of family. She was proud of each and every one of them. As her family grew with the ad...
