RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Reverend David Dillon celebrated the joyful occasion of the 50th Anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Our Lady of Peace Parish, the Reverend David Dillon graduated from Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School before entering the Carmelite Seminary; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend David Dillon was ordained a Carmelite priest on May 27, 1965, and was assigned to teach high school at his alma mater; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend David Dillon served at Mount Carmel High School in various ministries from 1967 to 1992 where he earned a reputation for achievement and leadership; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend David Dillon served as the Principal of Mount Carmel from 1974 to 1980 and was Alumni Director and Director of Development through June of 1992; and
WHEREAS, As Alumni Director, the Reverend David Dillon organized the annual Alumni Benefit and coordinated student recruitment; and
WHEREAS, As Director of Development, the Reverend David Dillon launched the Annual Fund Appeal and also played an instrumental role in the success of the Caravan Gala; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend David Dillon spearheaded the Capital Campaign to expand the high school's campus which included the construction of both the St. Cyril Priory and the Graham Center; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend David Dillon was named Mount Carmel's Man of the Century and inducted into the Mount Carmel Hall of Fame and continues to serve as a member of the high school's Board of Directors; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of June, 2015, do hereby congratulate the Reverend David Dillon on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of his ordination and do hereby recognize his significant contributions to Mount Carmel High School; and
