TRIBUTE TO MILDRED L. WILLIAMS


WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom, Almighty God has granted Mildred L. Williams, beloved citizen and friend, eternal rest on Friday, January 4, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Mildred was born in Chicago, Illinois to her loving parent Canary Abrams on December 2, 1933. At a young age, Mildred accepted Christ as her Savior under the leadership of Elder Sunday at the Morgan Park Pentecostal Church. In 1993 she moved her membership to Sweet Holy Spirit Church and in 2004 she was baptized again with her loving grandson, Mikyel; and

WHEREAS, Mildred met the love of her life, Roosevelt Williams in 1957 and after five years of courting, the couple became husband and wife on July 15, 1962. They shared their love and laughter and exactly nine years after their wedding date they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Jetaune on July 15, 1971; and

WHEREAS, Mildred L. Williams was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and neighbor who will be deeply missed. She was a vital and active member of her family and grateful community who enriched the lives of the young and the old. The memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will continue to live on in those who knew and loved her; and

WHEREAS, Mildred L. Williams will be greatly missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those whose life she touched in countless ways; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Williams leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate her life her husband of fifty years, Roosevelt Williams, daughter, Jetaune Guyton (Michael), grandchildren, Jayda Nicole and Mikyel Kristopher; close friend, Mable Dyer and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable, Michelle Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward, has informed this august body of the passing of this important and significant citizen; now, therefore
