RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Wafeek "Wally" Aiyash has been called home to eternal life by the wisdom of Allah for his eternal reward on December 5, 2022 at the age of 63; and,

WHEREAS, The Members of the Chicago City Council have been informed of his passing by the Honorable Raymond A. Lopez, Alderman ofthe 15th Ward; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Aiyash is survived by his loving wife Nabila, their children Yasin, Deanna, Amani and Sarah, as well as by his siblings Rocky and Zeze; and,

WHEREAS, Born to Palestinian immigrants, Mr. Aiyash established numerous businesses including residents & commercial rehab construction companies until he and his brothers opened Pazzos, a renowned chain of Mediterranean restaurants including their centerpiece location at 311S. Wacker; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Aiyash believed in helping Arab Americans both culturally and politically, as was evidenced by his opening Aladdin's Palace Banquet Hall, which served both in supporting Arab American and Arab allies to elected office as well the specific needs Arab American and Muslim families; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Aiyash is a longtime recognized and respected member of the American Arab community of greater Chicagoland, previously recognized by organizations such as the Arab American Chamber of Commerce, the Arab American Democratic Club, the Palestine Club, and the Arab American Journalist's Associations; and,

WHEREAS, His ability to live life to the fullest endeared Mr. Aiyash to his family, friends and indeed all who made his acquaintance, enriching their lives in ways they will never forget; now therefore,
