MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR WARREN J. VALSA
WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Warren J. Valsa on January 22, 2019 at the age of eighty; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, our country will be forever indebted to Warren, as a veteran and a proud paratrooper in the 101st Airborne; and
WHEREAS, Warren was a family man who valued, above all else, his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and
WHEREAS, Warren was a dedicated and longtime volunteer at Chicago's Field Museum. Among his contributions to the museum were the many hours he spent studying sediment from Madagascar under a microscope, checking for archeological particles; and
WHEREAS, Warren leaves to cherish his memories, his adoring wife, Mary; five loving children; nine cherished grandchildren, and three treasured great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Warren was preceded in death by his parents, John Valsa and Marie Valsa, nee Rogers, and brother, John Valsa; and
WHEREAS, Warren will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character and compassion will live on in all those who knew him and to whom he leaves a legacy of faith, dignity, and love; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2019 do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Warren J. Valsa; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution will be presented to the family of Warren J. Valsa as a sign of our sympathy and respect.
