MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Dolores F. Smith, nee Folz, on January 10, 2016, at the age of ninety; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Bom on July 19, 1925, Dolores was the loving wife ofthe late Robert J.; beloved mother of Robert (Mary), Charles (Michele), Jeanne Marie Jardien and Karen; dearly cherished grandmother of LCDR Megan (LCDR Michael U.S.N.) Donnelly, U.S.N., Brian Smith, Catherine and Robert Jardien, Kelly and Robert "Jay" Smith; precious great-grandmother of Nora Donnelly; devoted cousin of Jean Einsweiler; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Dolores leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, An active and vital member of her community, Dolores was a longtime member of Queen of All Saints Parish; owned and operated the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Homes with her late husband Robert. She had been a longtime member ofthe Sauganash Woman's Club, where she had been the recipient of the Sauganash Woman's Club Distinguished Service Award.

WHEREAS, Dolores will always be remembered for her smiling face, her wonderful sense of humor, positive attitude, strong work ethic, enduring patience and the thoughtfulness and grace within her that could light up any room she walked into. She was truly an angel on earth, leaving this world having made a tremendous mark on more people than can be named; and

WHEREAS, Dolores touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, her generosity, her heart and her caring spirit, making her a truly unforgettable person. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her, now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this tenth day of February, 2016...
