RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert L. Lambert has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Glen Ellyn, the Honorable Robert L. Lambert was the loving and devoted husband of Mary Anne; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert L. Lambert was the much-adored father of Robin, Lance, and Bryce and the grandfather of six to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert L. Lambert moved to Glen Ellyn in 1961 and enjoyed a thirty-two-year career with the Northern Trust Company in Chicago where he specialized in commercial banking, mergers and acquisitions; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert L. Lambert ably served from 1982 to 1987 as a member of the Glen Ellyn Library Board and rose to become its President; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert L. Lambert was a member and Trustee of Glen Ellyn's First Congregational Church for more than fifty years and also served on the Alumni Council of Dartmouth College, his alma mater; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert L. Lambert will be remembered as a gentle, intellectual man who loved music, poetry, literature, travel, and above all, his family; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert L. Lambert will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives and friends; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Robert L. Lambert imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixth day of July, 2011, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Robert L. Lambert for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Robert L. Lambert.
