RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Sylvester "Sonny" Majka has been called home to eternal life by the wisdom of God to receive his eternal reward on October 3, 2020; and,

 

WHEREAS, The Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago have been informed of his passing by the Honorable Raymond A. Lopez Alderman of the 15th Ward; and,

 

WHEREAS, Born to parents Walter and Frances along with his sister Janice, Sonny was a lifelong resident of the Brighton Park community, where he married, raised a family and lived a life rooted in the Roman Catholic education and faith; and,

 

WHEREAS, Sonny and his loving wife Theresa raised a family filled with their children Denise and her husband James, Lisa and her husband Pablo, Laura and her husband Scott, and Robert and his wife Christine along with their most highly adored grandchildren William, John, Eric, Hunter, Tyler, Mateo, Shan & D.J.; and,

 

WHEREAS, Sonny Majka was an exemplary pillar of faith and service to all that knew him, having served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, as a member of Catholic War Veterans, loyal parishioner of Five Holy Martyrs Parish and being an active and loyal member of its Holy Name Society; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this seventh day of October, 2020 A.D., do hereby express in singular voice our sorrow on the heavenly transition of Sylvester "Sonny" Majka and extend to his family, friends and the greater community he belonged to our deepest sympathy; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis tribute to Sylvester "Sonny" Majka be presented to his wife Theresa Majka and their surviving children.
