RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis X. Mahoney has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Freeport, Illinois, the Honorable Francis X. Mahoney was a retired member of the judiciary and the loving husband of the late Ruth, nee Lambert; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis X. Mahoney was the much-adored father of the Honorable P. Michael to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis X. Mahoney was the dear brother of Johnny, Tommy and David; and
WHEREAS, A native of Massachusetts, the Honorable Francis X. Mahoney was elected in 1964 to serve as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives; and
WHEREAS, In 1978 the Honorable Francis X. Mahoney was elected to the bench in Stephenson County where he would serve for 14 years until his retirement in 1991; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, the Honorable Francis X. Mahoney upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Francis X. Mahoney serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Francis X. Mahoney to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Francis X. Mahoney imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-second day of February, 2017, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Francis X. Mahoney for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
