RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Cardinal Blase Cupich has ordained The Most Reverend Robert Casey as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Raised in Alsip, The Most Reverend Robert Casey was the fourth of five children of Michael and the late Margaret; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Robert Casey graduated from Marist High School, Niles College and St. Mary ofthe Lake/Mundelein Seminary; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Robert Casey is a gifted homilist and communicator; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Robert Casey was Associate Pastor at St. Ita Parish from 1994 to 1999, Associate Director at Casa Jesus from 1998 to 1999, Director at Casa Jesus Pastor at Our Lady of Tepeyac from 2003 to 2009, Pastor at St. Barbara Parish in Brookfield from 2009 to 2016 and, most recently, was Pastor at St. Bede the Venerable since 2016; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Robert Casey has been named the Episcopal Vicar for Vicariate III; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Robert Casey's has as his motto the words of Jesus, "Into Your Hands", which symbolize an openness to whatever is asked of him; and

 

WHEREAS, The faithfulness, sacrifice and dedication of The Most Reverend Robert Casey serve as an example to all; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirty-first day of October, 2018 do hereby congratulate The Most Reverend Robert Casey on his ordination as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago; and
