SALUTE TO THE 80th ANNIVERSARY OF THE DECALOGUE SOCIETY
WHEREAS, In 1934, the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, the oldest Jewish bar association in the United States, was founded to combat anti-Semitism as well as all forms of discrimination and intolerance; and
WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers protects the rights and privileges of all people. It guards against public and private practices which promulgate racial or religious hatred and intolerance toward minorities; and
WHEREAS, For eight decades, the Decalogue Society has promoted the dignity and honor of the legal profession. Its members participate in social action, render useful community service and are active in movements for public and social welfare; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body of the significant milestone achieved by this notable legal organization; now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here this 19th day of November, 2014 AD, salute the Decalogue Society on the
occasion of their 80th Anniversary and extend our heartfelt wishes for continuing success in their

pursuit ot legal and social justice. '
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the Decalogue Society.
