MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Maesther Newton, affectionally known as "Aunt Mae", most beloved citizen to her eternal reward on, July 5, 2017; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Maesther was born February 11, 1922 in Star City, Arkansas to the late Lonnie and Elvira Curry; and
WHEREAS, Maesther had no children but she loved and cared for her very special nephew Jeff Jackson as if he were her own son, she worked hard to help children in different communities and throughout her life helped over 1,000 children; and
WHEREAS, Maesther accepted Christ at an early age at New Bethlehem #2 Church in Star City, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, Maesther was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Newton, four sisters Irmella McComb, Clara Mae McComb, Reola Curry, and Maple Byrd; and
WHEREAS, Maesther leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories one sister Annie Bell curry, four Special Nephews, Jeff Jackson, Alfred Jackson, Alonzo Jackson, Leon Jackson and Odell Hope. Two Special Nieces Rosetta Guy and Linda Faye Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, A cherished friend and supportive family member to all, Maesther "Aunt Mae" will be deeply missed but her dedication and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifteen day of June, 2017 A.D., do hereby commemorate Maesther Newton for her many lifetime contributions and do hereby extend to her family and many friends our sincere condolences.
