TRIBUTE TO CARRIE LEE ORR
WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Carrie Lee Orr, a helpful, inspiring caretaker and beloved member of her community; and
WHEREAS Carrie Orr was born in Sardis, Mississippi, to Rosie Campbell and Reverend Fred Orr, on September 1, 1908. As a teenager she confessed a hope in Christ and thanked Him daily for every bite of food she ate. She joined Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Sardis, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Upon her moving to Chicago in 1939, she joined the Liberty Baptist Church and later joined Pullman Christian Reformed Church where she played a role in petitioning the city to allow the church to reside in its present location; and
WHEREAS, Carrie Orr leaves behind to mourn her loss and celebrate her legacy her four sisters, Helen Stevens, Gasella Orr, Bertha Morris and Dorothy Flagg, as well as her 11 nieces and 10 nephews, whom she helped care for and loved; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable, Anthony Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward, has informed this august body of Carrie Lee Orr's transition who was a remarkable citizen and spiritual sister; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled this 28th Day of July, 2011 AD, do hereby express our sincere sorrow at the passing of Carrie Lee Orr, and extend our deepest condolences to her family and all those whose lives she touched.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Carrie Lee Orr
