SALUTE TO THOMAS J. JUSTIC UPON HIS RETIREMENT


WHEREAS, Thomas J. Justic retired on January 31, 2013, after serving Bernina of America for 25 years as Vice President of Marketing and Sales. Prior to working for Bernina, Mr. Justic was employed by the Quaker Oats Company as a financial analyst; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Justic was born on February 7, 1943 to Lydia and John Justic of Chicago. He excelled as a student, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Quincy University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Justic has had an able partner through the years in his wife Jane, with whom he was united in Holy Matrimony 47 years ago. The Justics are blessed with three children, Jill, Thomas and Todd, as well as nine grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism has always played a key role in Mr. Justic's life through various community service organizations, parish councils and parks. The Justics resided in Chicago's Beverly community for 35 years. He served on the financial board for St. Barnabas Parish and the Ridge Beverly Little League Board where he coached as well; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Mr. Justic serves on the Board of Directors of Roosevelt Place and is Chairman of the Finance Board at Holy Family Church. He additionally serves as treasurer ofthe 1717 Prairie Home Owners Association; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. Justic continues to live a full and rewarding life in the South Loop in Chicago's 2nd Ward, after demonstrating how, through balance and commitment, one cares for family, career and community; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body of Thomas J. Justic's outstanding citizenship; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 13th Day of March, 2013 AD, do hereby salute this praiseworthy citizen and express our appreciation for his heart to help others.
