RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John F. Gilmore, Jr. has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 72; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, John F. Gilmore, Jr. was the beloved husband of Charlotte; and
WHEREAS, John F. Gilmore, Jr. was the much-adored father of Chris and John to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, John F. Gilmore, Jr. was the cherished brother of Sabina and Anne; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago's South Shore neighborhood, John F. Gilmore, Jr. became involved with his family's livestock brokerage business at an early age; and
WHEREAS, A proud graduate of Chicago's Mount Carmel High School and John Carroll University in Cleveland, John F. Gilmore, Jr. joined E.F. Hutton & Co. in 1966; and
WHEREAS, Combining wide practical experience with a keen analytical ability, John F. Gilmore, Jr. soon rose from the position of livestock analyst to head of the futures department for E.F. Hutton & Co. and was appointed Director of the Chicago Board of Trade in 1977; and
WHEREAS, In 1979, John F. Gilmore, Jr. joined the Chicago office of Goldman Sachs and was named a general partner in 1988; and
WHEREAS, John F. Gilmore, Jr. served one year as Chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade; and
WHEREAS, John F. Gilmore, Jr. was a generous supporter of many worthy causes; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared John F. Gilmore, Jr. to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, John F. Gilmore, Jr. imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
