Resolution

Congratulations extended to the Chicago Chapter ofthe National Charleston Day Organization on hosting their 37^th Annual Reunion this year in the City of Chicago

Whereas, The Organization was founded in 1974 by Dr. Ethel Johnson Greene and incorporated in the State of Illinois in 1979; and

Whereas, The Charleston Day organization is a non-profit organization, with ten chapters in the United States that supports numerous philanthropic causes and awards two annual scholarships to high school graduates in the town of Charleston, Mississippi; and .

Whereas, The Chapter is expecting over 1,000 attendees; and

Whereas, The Honorable Brendan Reilly, Alderman of the 42nd Ward where the National Charleston Day Organization is hosting its 37^th Annual Reunion at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on East Wacker Drive, has informed this august body of this special occasion; and

Be it resolved, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled this 28th day of July, 2011 A.D. do hereby salute and congratulate the National Charleston Day Organization for supporting philanthropic causes throughout Chicago.

Be it further resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the Chicago Chapter of the of the National Charleston Day Organization.
