MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It was with great sadness that members of this chamber learned of the September 23, 2018 death of Gerald R. "Jerry" Horan; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on July 30, 1940, Jerry led a life well-lived and well-loved. Left to mourn his loss and celebrate his life are Jerry's devoted family members; his wife Sharon; daughter,
Kristine Benton (Steve); son, James Horan (Ronald Reichgott); grandsons Terry Giersdorf and Brenden Giersdorf; great grandson Emmett Giersdorf; and brothers Richard Horan, Thomas Horan and Dennis Horan (Carol); and
WHEREAS, As the former proprietor of Jerry's Barber Shop in Crystal, Minnesota, Jerry touched the hearts of everyone he met. Known for his sense of humor, love of dancing, and his great smile, Jerry will be deeply missed and never forgotten. The memory of his character, intelligence, and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirty-first day of October 2018, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Gerald R. "Jerry" Horan and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Margaret Laurino Alderman, 39th Ward
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerald R. "Jerry" Horan.
