A Resolution Honoring Dr. Otis L Anderson. Jr,
 
 
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Otis L Anderson, Jr. was born on April 16,1933 in Crossett, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Anderson is a committed family man who has been married to his wife, Lois Jean Samuels for almost sixty years, has three children, and six grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Anderson attended DuSable High School, The University of Illinois - Chicago, and the Chicago Baptist Institute; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Anderson's church leadership began at Greater Harvest Junior Church before he was officially ordained in 1960 at Greater Mount Olive Church; and
 
WHEREAS, In 1975, Dr. Anderson became the Pastor of Cathedral Missionary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, In addition to Greater Harvest, Mount Olive, and Cathedral Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Anderson has served as a minister at several churches in the Chicagoland area; and
WHEREAS, As Pastor of Cathedral Missionary Baptist Church located at 4821S. Wabash Avenue, Dr. Anderson oversees a food giveaway every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month and distributes holiday food baskets to those in need; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his duties as Pastor, Dr. Anderson serves the public as a member of the NAACP, the Founder ofthe Robert Taylor Children's Church, the Pastoral Committee Chairman for the 2nd District Police, Chicago Public School's Crisis Intervention Team, and as a Board Member ofthe Chicago Baptist Institute; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the City Council ofthe City of Chicago assembled this 13th day of March, 2013 do hereby wish Dr. Otis Anderson, Jr. a happy 80th birthday and 38th Pastoral Anniversary; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Anderson and his family.
