WHEREAS, Chicago's Nicholas Senn High School has been a valuable, educational asset in our community since the year 1913; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Senn High School's mission is to develop life-long learners who value diversity and social awareness and possess the critical-thinking, creative, social, and technological skills to be active, responsible, and productive citizens; and

WHEREAS, students of Nicholas Senn High School are given the opportunity to participate in the International Baccalaureate Program which provides students with challenging classes to prepare them for a globalizing world; and

WHEREAS, the Nicholas Senn High School has developed a Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Program which teaches students to be highly creative and deeply analytical through producing art; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Senn High School ensures they help all members of the diverse community by offering additional programs in Special Education, ELL and Smaller Learning Community Programs; and,

WHEREAS, Nicholas Senn High School has been promoting and supporting education for local students throughout the City of Chicago for the past 100 years; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Senn High School has built on past successes and is poised to continue to grow in the future especially due to its strong leadership, partnership with Loyola University Chicago, increasing enrollment, and recent standing of a Level 1 High School; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Senn High School is celebrating these achievements with a centennial celebration; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That we the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 16th day of October 2013, do hereby recognize Nicholas Senn High School's success in the last 100 years and its lasting impact on the students of the City of Chicago and encourage citizens of Chicago to support Senn High School in its future endeavors.
